Beta, well, he goes on a trip to open his eyes and ends having two faces… no really… half Beta walker mask and half Alpha’s skin. He’s even more creepy… and dangerous now that he has a horde of his own. And Eugene, Yumiko, and King Ezekiel set off to meet up with a possible new group that ends with a flamboyant stranger. Strange indeed.

This episode was written by Eli Jorné & Nicole Mirante-Matthews and directed by Greg Nicotero. The Whisperers’ attack on Hilltop continues, and then, we see the aftermath! This episode was written by Julia Ruchman & Vivian Tse and directed by Michael E. Satrazemis. Hilltop prepares for the approaching Whisperer horde. Alpha uses new tactics, Carol and Ezekiel comfort each other, and Eugene makes a date.

In a standout performance by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, we catch up with the escaped Negan, who has a groupie. We watch him turn back to old Negan, but with a purpose. Kelly hasn’t returned. Monsters is the third episode of season 8 and the topic of our discussion this week. A season 1 character returns that can’t compete with the return of Morgan, but he gets killed off anyway, so it doesn’t really matter.
This is the final episode with Ruthie as co-host. She announced this week that she is stepping down, effectivel immediately. Brian will continue to do the show with guest hosts until a co-host can be chosen.
