TWDTT 053 – Sing Me a Song (S7E7)

Sing Me a Song is the title of the next episode of The Walking Dead, also known as season 7 episode 7, and the penultimate for this year. It is also another way that Negan shows his prickishness because he makes Carl, our little serial killer in training, do just that. While the seemingly budding bromance between Carl and Negan was the main focus of this episode, we also checked in with Rick and Aaron, Spencer and Father Gabriel, Rosita and Eugene, and Michonne. It seems that our characters are going off in all different directions, both literally and figuratively while they all try to cope with their new Savior situation. Michonne and Rosita are both hell bent on getting themselves killed…er, I mean going after Negan.

TWDTT 052 – Swear (S7E6)

Swear means we only have two more weeks of The Walking Dead this year, but it also means all Tara all the time. The sixth episode of season 7 caught us up on what happened to Tara and Heath after that fateful night at the Savior outpost.

TWDTT 051 – Go Getters (S7E5)

What a difference a week makes! Go Getters, episode 5 of season 7 of The Walking Dead, was a welcome departure from the previous week, and we both liked it so much more than the one before. Brian had some weak sauce this week, but honestly, I was so happy to not see Negan again, I probably gave them a pass where I normally might not have. But that’s the way these things go sometimes. It was great to see Maggie again, and the path that she’s on with the Hilltop. Hopefully, Gregory will not be in charge for very long, although Xander Berkeley is quite divine. As Sonequa Martin-Green said on Talking Dead, Gregory cares more for his own safety than for the safety of others, and that is what makes him dangerous. How very right she is, and I think Jesus is starting to recognize this as well.

TWDTT 050 – Service (S7E4)

Episode 4 of season 7 of The Walking Dead, Service is all about Negan visiting Alexandria and taking their stuff, or as he says, providing service. More than that, though, it’s about making sure the Alexandrians understand their place in the grand Savior scheme of things. Negan wants to make sure they are demoralized and that they won’t ever try to fight back. I’m really hoping that fighting back happens very soon because I’m not sure how much more of this kicking them when they’re down that I can take.

TWDTT 049 – The Cell (S7E3)

The third episode of season 7 takes us to the Sanctuary, as Negan’s home is called, and we learn a little bit more about Dwight. Meanwhile, the title of the episode, The Cell is where Daryl spends most of his time. Also, he’s naked. That’s right, Daryl was naked for part of this episode. So if you didn’t watch it, you missed out. Because it was sexy time. Okay, not really, it was a terrible kind of naked that wasn’t sexy at all, but rather, very, very sad. Daryl was brought to his lowest point in the series so far: no clothes and being fed dog food sandwiches. He even cried at the end, and our hearts broke as poor Daryl only had Dwight to comfort him. A masterful performance by Norman Reedus, this episode nevertheless left some of us wanting a little bit more.

This episode should have been called Easy Street, for the obvious reason.

TWDTT 048 – The Well (S7E2)

The Well was definitely a different kind of episode than the season 7 premiere, and at least one of us really, really liked it. I won’t tell you who, you’ll just have to listen to see. Okay, twist my arm, it was me. This episode caught us up on what is happening with Morgan and our beloved Carol, as well as introduced us to a new community of people. During this episode we see an entirely new way of life in the zombie-pocalypse, one that seems a little hard for Carol to swallow. She thinks that The Kingdom is a joke and that King Ezekiel is, too. That is, until he lets her in on his little secret. By the end of the episode, I think Carol and I are in agreement. Ezekiel and Shiva aren’t so bad after all.

TWDTT 047 – The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be (S7E1)

The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be are prophetic words spoken by Dr. Jenner way back in season 1 as Rick and the gang fled an about to explode CDC in Atlanta. Much like Rick, we didn’t ever think that those words would or could come back to haunt us. Now we know differently. Two of our beloved characters will no longer be a part of our show, but they will not be forgotten. Especially by the rest of the characters. In fact, this episode will most likely be the story that changed everything.

TWDTT 046 – Season 7 Preview

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Season 7 is upon us! Only a few days remain until we get to see who gets “Lucilled” and this makes us both excited and trepidatious, both eager and panicked, and both impatient and anxious, all at the same time! What a wide range of emotions we are all experiencing as we anticipate what will happen! I cannot use another exclamation point! Oops. But, we talked about a lot more than just who we think might get the bat. We talked about what we are most excited about, and what we are perhaps dreading a little bit. But one thing is for sure, Sunday cannot get here soon enough.

We hope that after listening, we were able to talk you off the ledge a little bit. What we can all agree on is that we are nervous, excited, scared, and a whole host of other emotions about the 90-minute season finale coming this Sunday! TWDTT 039 – Twice as Far (S6E14)

We may have come Twice as Far with this episode, but it feels like we were half as ready for what happened. Two beloved characters gone, one for good, and yes, we definitely need therapy after this next episode of The Walking Dead. Just make sure if you ever appear on a zombie apocalypse show that you never experience any character growth, or become the moral compass, or make plans for the future, because that’s the surest way to get killed off. How many more encounters with the Saviors will our gang have before it destroys them? Or before it destroys their spirits? Dr. Denise may have been awkward, but she was the best kind of awkward.

TWDTT 038 – The Same Boat (S6E13)

All of the characters this episode are in The Same Boat, or at least that’s how it seems in the beginning; but by the end of the episode, they are not in the same boat at all. In fact, it appears that our gang has come out on top, but at what cost to Carol and Maggie? They both appear to be in a bad way after their own experiences from the Savior invasion, and we are rewarded with a tender moment for Daryl and Carol (a moment which has been lacking for quite some time we might add!), as well as for Glenn and Maggie. It might not be fair to pick favorites, but I liked the Maggie and Carol power hour storyline way better than Abe’s tripping over his “sack o’ gonads” story. And what a tour de force performance from Alicia Witt, complete with the unglamorous Walking-Dead-style make-under that just helped her be even more amazing!

TWDTT 037 – Not Tomorrow Yet (S6E12)

Not Tomorrow Yet is the next full speed ahead episode of The Walking Dead. With a cold open focused on Carol, we knew it would be a knockout episode, and she finally gets some sugar! But then, in the end, she gets kidnapped. Bummer. But we all know that Rick and the gang will do anything and everything to get Carol and Maggie back into their safe and loving arms. Only a few days left until we find out how they will do just that, but will it be that simple? Who will be the next beloved character to leave the show? Will it be your favorite? Will it be mine? Do I have just one?? The suspense is almost killing me!

TWDTT 035 – The Next World (S6E10)

The Next World is the next episode of our favorite show, but this one came with mixed reviews from us. One of us thought there were too many plot holes, and the other just went with it. Whatever your thoughts are, this episode is probably the most humorous episode of The Walking Dead that we’ve ever seen. It’s nice to see our characters relax for a little while and sort of goof off. Unfortunately, we know that this cannot last and that hell is probably coming.

TWDTT 034 – No Way Out (S6E9)

What an amazing episode to come back to after that break that seemed like it might last forever, especially with the issues that some of us had with the first half of season 6. But No Way Out just made it all better, they recaptured us with sweet words and explosions! Well, all better for some of us; for Sam and Jessie, not so much. Just like Rick did, we also fell in love with Jessie; and just like Alexandra Breckenridge, we are super bummed about Jessie’s fate, too. However, when it comes to Sam, responses vary wildly. I, for one, think he was a kid in a tough situation in which this outcome was probably inevitable. Major Dodson’s poor character just couldn’t catch a break. But after seeing him on The Talking Dead, he endeared himself even more, at least to this fan, making it that much harder to see him go.

TWDTT 032 – Season 6a Review

In this episode of The Walking Dead Talk Through, we discuss the merits and demerits of the first half of season 6. We both agreed that the “Glenn thing” was done all kinds of wrong, and feel a little let down by our favorite show. However, there were plenty of high points this first half to outshine the negatives. Carol was our main winner for what was best about season 6a, but that shouldn’t be a surprise since we both love her so much. As our discussion played out, we both decided that this first half was full of peaks and valleys in the story, and we hope for so much more in the second half.
