Talking Through Mourning Cloak!

For this episode 93 of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, Kyle and LT talk through Season 7 Episode 10 of Fear the Walking Dead titled Mourning Cloak, which was written by Nazrin Choudhury and Calaya Michelle Stallworth and directed by Lennie James. Charlie agrees to help one of Strand’s Rangers on a mission for the Tower.

Love is in the air… and in the bowling alley!

So, this was a Charlie-focused episode, and we got another new person, Ali, who, again, Fear loves to introduce us to new characters and then toss them off the roof. I, for one, am getting a little tired of meeting new people if this is how they are going to treat them. Red Shirts is correct, DeEtta. They don’t even try to make us worry about this happening to the main cast, and even with the surprise (was it really) with Charlie, It still doesn’t have the impact that it used to have back in the early days of TWD. Oh well, they gave us what they did and flipped the WB plot switch of young love, and it didn’t really land on its feet (no pun intended, lol). Let’s hope that this doesn’t happen for very long, and we can get to the real meat of this season. The War between Strand and Alicia.

Enjoy as Kyle and LT discuss Fear the Walking Dead, Season 7, Episode 10, titled Mourning Cloak.

We want to start offering Patrons a real reason to stay on our Patreon and to get more people to become Patrons. As such, we are going to start experimenting with bringing you some new content that will really make it worth your while to be subscribed.

We are going to try offering Patrons early access to our regular episodes. These versions of the episodes will be less polished than the final version of the podcast, will largely be uncensored, may contain things we fix up in the final version (like when we speak over each other, awkward silences, etc.), content that we remove from the final version and may not have all of the sound effects mixed in properly (and in the case of this episode, doesn’t have the beginning and ending music mixed in at all).

To do this, we edited a different version of the podcast where we’re all on one single track and only edited major things. Aside from that, the process is similar to how we’ve been doing it. We think, at least from an editing perspective, this was a major success. In fact, this process may influence how we edit the main version of the podcast going forward.

“I, for one, am getting a little tired of meeting new people if this is how they are going to treat them.” – seconded! I mean Ali had it coming given the episode so I’m not mad about him but I would hate for interesting people like Paul to keep coming in just to only be in an episode and then die.

    Podcast comments…

This is where we need to keep Lenny James – in the director chair because this episode was well put together! Yes, this is the new mission – we bring back Kim full time or let Alycia carry it as she should have been doing for the years Kim wasn’t and Lenny can direct the episodes so he’s still around but Morgan is not. This is a win-win all around I feel. 🙂

Ha, June steps up only when it suits her otherwise she just hangs out in the background until she wants something personally.

Awe man LT now you have me thinking about how what if Alicia and Strand, and Morgan because they shoved him in even though he shouldn’t be in this fight, are battling and Howard tries to take Strand out to be the next big dog as he sees it at the tower and that’s how Strand goes out? It’s not by Alicia but by someone of his how making kind of; it would fit but it’s kind of like Charlie this episode – yeah we wanted you dead a lot of times but this isn’t exactly how we wanted to take you out. Ha Maybe Strand will kill off Howard before then so he’s “weaker” in allies for when Alicia comes storming in and they fight.

100% agree Emma – the fast paced romance between Ali and Charlie felt weak as could be; I can get he might like her and might do some stupid stuff such as reveal information to her but to come back for her when he was out and he wants to prove himself as a Ranger – no. Even if he did it for love he wouldn’t be busting out the butterflies for her, that was a step too far. Maybe they could have been something with time but they were never getting that time and so the romance was the weakest part of the episode to me.

Lol to the Bill franchise plan for Texas. Every month LT has to come up with a new business for Bill. 🙂

    Team Kilmer as Holliday! 🙂

Alicia has all the “sick make-up” money. Ha

I will agree with you LT that Nick was boring compared to others on the show so I wasn’t sad to see him go either (he was never as horrible as Chris but still never in my top 3) and I like Charlie as a character, but she has to go. She’s like Strand in that she’s done too much to not get something. Ha Also she’s becoming far to capable at jobs so you know in order to jack up the difficulty for characters she has to go.

I took it as Ali was seeing his dad or whoever was in the bowling photo in the zombie with the military gear on…it looked like military clothes anyways so it wasn’t just random he couldn’t shoot it, he had a reason so I was okay with the freeze as poorly timed as it was.

“I want an eye for an eye d*mn it” – lol. I agree, Alicia accepting her will NEVER make sense. It’s one thing to let her in the group because she needs bodies for help doing tasks but to forgive her for killing her brother especially after you can argue she helped kill her mom in Alicia’s eyes – there’s no way Alicia would be buddies with her!

“I’ll meet you at the parking lot” – LT – so wrong, but so right too. 😂

And now we all want cake! 🎂

How is the plan just not to break the glass on the beacon? They seem to have issues finding even basic supplies now so a busted light would be a real issue. You could do that from range!

Let’s be honest Kyle even if Alycia didn’t direct the next episode she still wouldn’t be in it because they don’t use her like they should! 😡They trout her out once every 4 episodes to keep her ratings going but they don’t really write for her…if they wrote for her she wouldn’t have gotten bit because real Alicia would have known not to go in the tunnel and would have for sure stabbed the zombie with the pipe she easily had close by but that’s a discussion from last time. Ha

Given it’s called “Ophelia” I wonder if Mercedes will guest star in it as vision-Ophelia? That would be cool!
